3rd German-Ukrainian Business Forum
The 3rd German-Ukrainian Business Forum took place in the House of German Business, Berlin, on November 28-29, 2018. As an active contributor to building business relations between Ukraine and European countries, Sigma Software dispatched its representative to the event - Nadiia Martynova, a Products and Talents Manager at Sigma Software.
Day one of the event was devoted to the local automotive cluster AC-BB engaged in building a dialog between the industry players and IT/startup companies and a unique public-private partnership Berlin Partner for Business and Technology promoting the German capital to the world. Berlin Partner presentations told about the cooperation infrastructure and startup subculture thriving in Berlin as well as the partnership’s support to the companies opening their businesses in Berlin, including location, legal, integration consulting. The day and all the presentations were saturated with atmosphere of enthusiasm and openness for cooperation, which created a great attitude to doing business in this city.
On day two of the event, Dr. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Volodymyr Groysman, Prime Minister of Ukraine, presented their speeches and started the conversation regarding actual opportunities and challenges for German companies in Ukraine. Dr. Angela Merkel outlined the current state of Ukrainian economy and recited the numbers demonstrating impressive progress and investment prospects of the country. Volodymyr Groysman emphasized that Ukraine goes on the path of change, and now is the best time for investment and cooperation. The new slogan designed for promoting Ukraine – Ukraine Now – was chosen for a reason.
The forum continued with five panels devoted to innovations and opportunities they bring, digitization and Industry 4.0, food processing and agriculture, infrastructure and transport as well as energy efficiency and municipal management. Panel discussions enjoyed participation of many high level
Ukrainian and German politics, including from Germany: Peter Altmaier, Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, and Dorothee Bär, State Minister of Digitalization; from Ukraine: Stepan Kubiv, First Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Development and Trade, Oksana Markarova, Minister of Finance, Oleksandr Saienko, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and other prominent statespersons. Organized by the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) and German-Ukrainian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) in cooperation with the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in Berlin, and UkraineInvest, the German-Ukrainian Business Forum covered grave questions. Main topics underlying the discussions were economic reforms being implemented by the Ukrainian government and creating opportunities for bilateral economic relations.
The focus of Ukraine to reforms and digitalization was evidenced by many innovations, such as automation of government services. Among the most significant examples are systems for performing official records online and automated government purchases that allow minimizing violations and ensure transparency to disbursing public funds.
“Berlin is so diverse. Just as our Sigma Software team is. However, there is one thing that all my colleagues have in common – passion for innovations and getting things done in the best possible way. This passion resonates so well with Berlin’s diversity and innovation spirit and allows us to serve both big enterprises and innovative startups efficiently and with great results.”
