Born from Passion: Our Successful Brand Projects Driven by Hobbies

The bigger the company, the more important the processes, policies, and rules become for it. For they keep chaos away. At the same time, it makes individuality and creativeness a treasure that needs to be saved.

We, at Sigma Software, consider diversity and attention to each individual to be one of our values. Seeing and hearing Big Ideas and implementing them is a principle laid down by the company’s founders.

Our company, founded in 2002 in Kharkiv, celebrated its 23rd anniversary in May. The company has undergone rapid growth, joining a large Swedish group, acquiring other companies, globalizing, and opening offices around the world. All while saving a startup mindset, openness to unconventional ideas, and attention to individual talents. Thanks to this culture, Sigma Software consistently wins awards as an employer and maintains a high level of employee satisfaction. A large percentage of people have been with the company for over 10 years, and some for more than 15.

This culture is evident everywhere, primarily in the daily work routine and communication, but it is best illustrated by projects that strengthen the company’s culture and image.

Sigma Software development team

These projects are united by the fact that they were born out of the personal interest of our colleagues and, thanks to attention and systematic work, have become the company’s calling card and have strengthened its brand over many years, winning marketing and PR awards. Just this month, one of our projects has won a prestigious award for creative and innovative solutions X-Ray Marketing Projects Competition in the category Brand Experience.

And here’s the winning project.

Sigma Cook Book

The saying that culture “eats processes for breakfast” took on new meaning at Sigma Software with the emergence of Sigma Cooking Club. Several company members (including DevOps Engineer, Chief Infrastructure Officer, and even our CEO and co-founder), who loved to cook, joined forces and created the cooking club.

Sigma Cook Book

Over time, the club attracted more and more people, growing a community that held workshops, meetings, picnics, and shared recipes offline and online. Last year, the club raised to a new level with releasing Sigma Cook Book, which collected the favorite recipes of the company’s employees. The book became a desirable gift for customers, partners, colleagues, and the IT community.

Many recipes preserve the true history of the company. People remember well what they enjoyed eating together.

With the start of the full-scale war, the community took on another meaning. One of its co-founders, Serhii Yevdokimov, together with like-minded people, regularly prepared hot meals for defenders and civilians in frontline areas. For many people, this became a source of psychological support at the time. Serhii also heads  , a corporate charity fund that has donated over $5 million to Ukrainians and the military since the start of the war. The book itself, which the company gives away for donations, also contributes to the cause.

Inspirium: the Record-Breaking Motorcycle

The idea was born in Kharkiv, Sigma Software’s hometown, in 2015. At that time, the company’s founders supported the Iron Custom Motors (ICM) workshop and sponsored the idea of modernizing an old IZH motorcycle to make it the fastest in its class. Some believed in the idea, others implemented it — and so the dream of setting a world speed record at the International Raceway at Bonneville Salt Flats in the USA was born. And guess what happened: in 2017, we returned with a total victory and a world record. Sigma Software, ICM, and all of Ukraine rejoiced — news of the event was broadcast by all media outlets.

Inspirium innovation promotion project

Today, the record-breaking motorcycle travels to Ukrainian cities and top technical universities, inspiring current and future generations of engineers to dream and believe in themselves. The Inspirium motorcycle stand itself is Sigma Software’s calling card and an engineering legend that reminds students, founders, and colleagues to never give up. During its tours, more than 10 million Ukrainians learned about Inspirium.

While presenting the motorcycle stand at a new city, we organize quizzes and quests about innovation, give away Ukrainian engineering souvenirs, and promote engineering culture. If even one person inspired by this, someday builds their own “Dream” that will change the world, it will mean that we are moving in the right direction.

Art That Unites

In 2022, Sigma Software sought to support its people, lift the spirits of Ukrainians, and raise funds through art.

That’s when the idea came up to invite the best street artists from all 25 regions of Ukraine to create a powerful message in the style of their region on a 6×6 meter piece of wall under the slogan: “We will stand, we will win.”

The creation of the joint mural took three days. While the artists were creating their masterpieces, Sigma Software and its partners held a street festival with famous musicians, children’s workshops, and fundraising for the army. Over 30,000 visitors came to support the project, and over $7,000 was raised.

Social Art Project by Sigma Software

The mural was named “United by Victories” — it is about our unity and the day we are all waiting for. “United by Victories ” has gained recognition among thousands of Ukrainians and has become a favorite project of our colleagues, because everyone finds strength in it for themselves.

Our next step was to show the project to the world, so we created replicas of the murals and are still displaying them in various cities in Ukraine and abroad.

From November 2022 to the present day, more than 2.5 million visitors have seen the story of our Victory, and the project received a prestigious award in the category “Best Art and Culture Program” from The Corporate Engagement Awards in London, while branded clothing with the design base on the murals can be found on the streets of Ukraine and abroad.

Old but Gold: Interactive Technology Museum

Technology is not just a tool that we, at Sigma Software, use to grow and develop; it is also what inspires us and helps us create exciting projects. A great example is the retro technology museum.

In 2023, we came up with an idea of creating a space that would visually demonstrate how the world of technology has changed over the past decades. It was done to mark the 10th anniversary of IT Arena conference and our partnership with them.

What we didn’t expect was how this project would captivate different people in the company, how nostalgic and comfy it would turn out to be, and how much pleasure it would bring to both creators and visitors.

In just a few months, we managed to collect over 50 working vintage exhibits — legendary computers and laptops, on which you can play vintage games, write code using old programming environments from Delphi and Eclipse to Assembler and Turbo Pascal. We found mobile phones, on which you can write SMS messages using the keyboard or play the cult game Snake. In the museum, we displayed Nintendo, Sega, Tetris, and Tamagotchi game consoles, and also assembled a library of programming books and memorabilia: audio cassettes, network adapters, 5¼-inch floppy disks, magnetic tapes, punch cards, and pocket PCs.

Retro Technology Meseum

No detail was too small for us: Team Boys sweaters as a dress code for the team, playlists with nostalgic hits, a photo stand called “A Programmer’s Workplace in the 90s” — all this is the result of very warm, fun, and unifying evenings in the organizer’s chat.

We fell in love with this story, so the technology museum moved from the IT Arena to our Sigma Software office in Lviv. The museum is open to the public and can be visited on weekdays by appointment.

Last year, the museum received the X-Ray Award: Technologies from the Past to the Present award in Sigma Software | Digital PR projects on mmr.ua.

Accelerating Businesses and Bringing the Future Closer with the Legendary DeLorean

Who are the world’s most iconic time travelers? Of course — Doc Brown and Marty McFly from the legendary Back to the Future trilogy. They didn’t just travel through time — they did it in style, piloting the unforgettable DeLorean DMC-12 turned into a time machine.

At Sigma Software, we’ve all dreamed of that kind of adventure — jumping through centuries, witnessing the rise and fall of ancient civilizations, watching the breakthroughs of the scientific revolution, seeing humans venture into space, or even peeking into the garage where Apple was born.

And in 2024, Sigma Software made time travel possible. We brought the legendary DeLorean to life — not to rewrite history, but to help businesses accelerate toward their digital future. Cutting a mile from the speed mark from the movies, already at 87 miles per hour, we propel companies forward with cutting-edge tools and solutions that solve challenges, boost efficiency, and spark innovation.

Our time-travel-inspired journey kicked off at Web Summit Lisbon, one of the world’s largest gatherings of innovators, trendsetters, engineers, entrepreneurs, and dreamers. During the “Ukrainian Code: Spreading Around the World” side event — designed to showcase Ukraine’s incredible tech talent — we unveiled our time machine.

Delorean Business Acceleration Project

To make it truly unforgettable, we built an entire retro experience around it: hoverboard, sports almanac, flux capacitor, and futuristic fashion straight out of 2015. Every detail was designed to bring back that nostalgic Back to the Future vibe — sparking curiosity, smiles, and lasting impressions.

Want to experience our time machine for yourself?
Stay tuned — because soon, you’ll have a chance to see it in action. Where exactly you think will the DeLorean land next?

Sigma On Air: How Our Corporate Radio Became the Voice of a Global Team

At Sigma Software, we are constantly moving towards globalization. A few years ago, it became clear that a company of our size needed its own “voice” — something like a radio station. We also had enthusiasts among us who one day joined forces. In 2018, Sigma On Air corporate radio was born — an internal radio platform that regularly broadcasts episodes about everything that is happening in the company: from office life in our numerous locations to sport contests, corporate news, live interviews, events insights, and useful tips from colleagues.

Sigma On Air Internal Communication Project

Since 2018, we have released over 300 episodes and tested various formats: interviews, digests, business updates from management, and more. We also created an entire recording studio and named it after the radio station. Today, we use the radio as an instant intercontinental communication tool with colleagues, a channel for important messages from the management team, and interesting company news. We are sincerely glad that we have our own broadcast, which unites the team and helps us remain authentic and feel close to each other, no matter how far apart we are.
