Looking back at 2015
Year 2015 is about to end. For Sigma Software it was rich for memorable events, great achievements, and remarkable initiatives.
At the beginning of the year we started the joint work with a leading provider of telecommunications equipment and related services around the world. Our Client is an example of leadership in all stages of industry development, from the spread and improvement of telegraph and telephone networks to 4G deployment. The Client`s equipment is used in more than 1,000 networks in 150 countries, nearly half of all mobile calls in the world are made using its systems. The platform we are developing allows managing hardware configuration and designing communication networks.
Another big success was the cooperation agreement with a well-known gaming company, one of the world leaders in development of free-to-play online games and game services for a range of different platforms. After a few years of communication with the Customer, we have received from them an offer to participate in a tender for migration and further development of their flagship product. We successfully passed several stages of negotiations, and, finally, have been chosen as a winner.
The year of 2015 has brought us many new relationships with some of the most prominent technology startups of New York business arena. We’ve been honored to work with serial entrepreneurs who keep building great products one after another, and to become a part of this unique community that defines the future of technology in so many different fronts — intelligent and programmatic advertising technology, video syndication, real-time mobile experiences and so much more.
We are genuinely thankful for the exciting opportunities, ideas, and products that our Clients have trusted us to care about. The year brought us many challenging and fun projects with cutting edge technologies.
We launched a number of AppleTV (tvOS) and Android TV apps for a video business management company — working on the Apple TV app even before the actual AppleTV was made available.
Our mobile app development expertise has continued to grow — from many new iOS apps in Swift to dozens of brand new cross-platform technologies to build all kinds of apps for consumers and enterprise.
We’ve been pushing real-time video streaming to its limits on mobile and web, working on machine learning, AI and big data analytics, engineering complex back-end infrastructures on all major cloud computing providers, including Amazon, Microsoft Azure, Rackspace, and building so much more.
For several years we have been working on the platform that helps producers and consumers of video content to transact in the smartest way. This is the sophisticated highly-scalable platform, handling millions and eventually billions of requests per month. The platform was recently acquired by Aol, the world's largest media conglomerate. For them Sigma Software has also started the development of a range of mobile solutions.
It is only a small part of what has been done in the passing year. All of these projects required a significant expansion — over 180 talented professionals joined our company throughout 2015, bringing us to a number of 570 IT professionals.
One of the most exciting events of this year was the launch of Sigma Software New York office on Times Square. This was a long-expected step for us, as it opens new ways for a more effective cooperation with our American customers. The new office is located in a historic building: from 1913 to 2007 it was a headquarters of the famous New York Times newspaper.
During the past 12 months we continued our activities, dedicated to IT education development. We have actively cooperated with numerous Ukrainian educational establishments, started the cooperation with three universities, partnered with country`s biggest students` contests, held dozens of events. Over 200 students passed training in the company in 2015.
This year we continued our joint work with Business Sweden, aimed at strengthening cooperation between our two countries. In June we participated in the Sweden-Ukraine business forum, which traditionally gathered the representatives of government and business. A month earlier the Ambassador of Sweden to Ukraine visited Sigma Software Kharkiv office to meet the core team and discuss Ukraine potential.
After two years break, we organized NETwork conference again. This event was created to build a channel for exchanging fine-tooth technical experiences for professionals around the globe. With focus on deep, technical content and hands-on learning experiences, NETwork provides an opportunity to connect with top-notch industry experts one-on-one. This year the conference was held in Lviv and gathered about 300 attendees and well-known speakers from the USA, Germany, and Spain.
This year was really great for us. And we look in to the future with even more optimism!
