October 18, 2016, Norwegian-Ukrainian Business Forum, organized by Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, took place in Oslo. The Business Forum addressed the opportunities and specifics of doing business in and between Norway and Ukraine.

Norwegian-Ukrainian Business Forum 2016 in OsloThe Business Forum was held to coincide with the first official visit of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to Norway. From Norway, Prime Minister Erna Solberg attended the event. Petro Poroshenko emphasized the potential of development and enhancement of Ukraine-Norway cooperation.

According to Petro Poroshenko, Ukrainian and Norwegian economies can largely supplement and reinforce one another: “Norway is a unique model of general state welfare. The country possesses state-of-the-art technologies, particularly in the sphere of renewable energy sources,” the President said. He added that those factors made Norway a very attractive partner for Ukraine.

The Business Forum gathered distinguished speakers from Ukrainian and Norwegian governments, instrumental international financial organizations, and private businesses. Visitors included people from the Ukrainian civil society and business sector who are driving the transformation of the Ukrainian economy. From Sigma Software, the event attended Vladimir Beck, Board Member and Cofounder, Olesya Khokhoulia, Deputy CEO, Account Management, and Artem Petrenko, Director, Business Development.

The discussion covered digitalization aspects in banking, automotive industry, government, healthcare, and more. Artem also provided his point of view on Big Data applications and prospects.

Ukrainian IT industry has a strong knowledge base and a steady influx of new specialists, while the trend to invest in the new and improve information technology in the Nordics remains at high levels. In view of this, cooperation opportunities between Ukraine and the Nordics in IT industry are immense and far-reaching.”
