Shaping the Future: Web Summit 2024

With 70,000+ attendees, 1,000+ investors, and 3,000+ companies at Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon, the conference confidently holds the title of one of the biggest global tech events. The speakers and attendees included a lineup of policymakers, heads of state, the founders and CEOs of technology companies, and fast-growing startups. Sigma Software took part with speakers, partnered an exclusive side event, and exhibited their own time machine that can help businesses get to the future of tech faster and smoother. No surprise that this time machine is made of the iconic Delorean DMC-12!

The Atlantic magazine once wrote that Web Summit is “where the future goes to be born.”

The conference organizers gathered those who shape the future to ask them where the world is going: policymakers, heads of states, the founders and CEOs of technology companies. The event featured, to name a few, Prime Minister of Portugal Luis Montenegro, Vice-Chancellor of Germany Robert Habeck, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft Brad Smith, CMO of Visa Frank Cooper, President of Alibaba.com Kuo Zhang, Inventor of World Wide Web and CTO of Inrupt Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and others.

Sigma Software has been a long-term participant of Web Summit, from co-organizing the Ukrainian pavilion and organizing side events to helping Ukrainian startups get exposure and access to potential investors. Representing the company at the event and promoting the Ukrainian tech ecosystem, we have always stayed in the thick of things.

As a company born in Ukraine and thriving in international markets, we see it as our responsibility to help Ukrainian entrepreneurs attract clients, partners, and investors. We aim to showcase to the world just how innovative, competitive, and promising Ukraine is, even during challenging times. This is  an opportunity not only to contribute to the industry’s growth but also to reaffirm our unwavering belief in the potential of Ukrainian talent and technology.”

And of course, it`s a great place to meet clients, partners, and colleagues from Sigma Software Group and Danir Group families.

East to West: The Shifting Face of Innovation – Panel Discussion

This year at Web Summit, we have taken a chance to share our vision and expertise with a broader audience. Our CEO and co-founder, Valery Krasovsky joined the panel discussion on “East to West: The Shifting Face of Innovation.” He discussed how partnerships between the Gulf, Central Asia, and the Caucasus were building influential tech hubs that are transforming the global IT landscape and opening up new paths for growth.

As Valery noted:

“I represent an international company with offices in 19 countries, including several locations in the Gulf. Working in the Gulf for over ten years, I can say that it’s important that you work in this region for a long time so that you gain trust. From our experience, governments and companies there are looking for ready solutions and can benefit from expertise in AI, blockchain, cybersecurity, and other modern technologies. This is what we try to bring to the region – technology competence along with educational programs and flexible approach.”

To the Future and More

During the event, Sigma Software for the first time presented the iconic DeLorean DMC-12 from “Back to the Future” film series.

The car is a representation of technology that opens the door to the future. Similarly to the car, Sigma Software makes the future closer through technology, innovation, and imagination, merging into the power to transcend the boundaries of time.

With this idea in mind, we brought the DeLorean to Web Summit, the event where the future is born. And to the Ukrainian side event, revealing the potential of the Ukrainian IT industry. We hope the guests of the event are ready to hop in the car and shape the future together with us.

Valery Krasovsky, a big fan of the trilogy, says: “For us, this car is not just a symbol of the whole era. Just like Marty and Doc were exploring the past and the future, we apply all our experience, gathered during 20+ years, to advance the future of tech and innovations. At Sigma Software we know exactly how to accelerate businesses and get them up to 87 miles per hour giving them an extra mile in speed to embrace the future through digital transformation.”
