Sigma Software Among Top 5 Business Investors in Education in Ukraine

The demand for qualified professionals in technical and scientific fields far exceeds what the academic system can deliver on its own. Recognizing this gap, the business community has stepped in with targeted support and long-term initiatives. Businesses create own educational platforms, cooperate with leading universities in Ukraine and contribute to specialized education in the regions where they operate.

Delo.ua in partnership with KSE have investigated various educational initiatives of Ukrainian companies and compiled a rating of top business investors in Ukrainian education — and Sigma Software is proud to be among the leading contributors. The companies’ efforts were recognized based on two key indicators: a composite index of educational philanthropy and the volume of investments made between 2022 and 2025.

Out of 51 companies studied, we stood out not just for advocating the importance of education, but for our consistent investments into its quality and future.

Partnership with Universities

Through our educational platform Sigma Software University, we cooperate with 65+ universities and educational centers in Ukraine and globally. We opened 15+ IT labs in universities and colleges and equipped several shelter classrooms in schools. Every year, we organize and support more than 100 educational events, helping to grow the tech community and guide students into successful IT careers.

Collaboration with Associations and Governments

Sigma Software is a member of 20+ professional communities, clusters, and associations aimed at boosting collaboration and promoting industry development, including EdTech Ukraine Association, European Business Association, IT Ukraine Association, Kharkiv IT Cluster, and others. Besides that, we actively work to contribute to modernizing educational programs and ensure they align with current industry needs.

Flagship Initiatives

A range of flagship initiatives helps us fulfil our aims in advancing tech education. Each of the initiatives is designed to address real challenges in the education sector, close the skills gap, and build long-term capacity in Ukraine and beyond:

🔹 Sigma Software University – Our global educational platform offering 100+ courses and programs, powered by 100+ industry experts. With 65+ university partnerships, it unites knowledge and experience across various domains to advance professional growth around the world.

🔹 Teachers’ Smart Up – A free upskilling program for Ukrainian university lecturers recognized by the DOU Awards 2025. Between 2022 and 2025, over 6,700 teachers from 150+ institutions have participated in the program, gaining new knowledge and practical tools for modern education.

🔹 Star For Life Ukraine – A non-profit organization launched by Sigma Software as part of the global Star for Life charitable foundation created in 2005 by Dan Olofsson together with his wife Christin. Star for Life Ukraine aims to improve access to education for Ukrainian children. To date, it has influenced 22,000+ students, launched 30+ educational courses, and established 11 computer labs in schools across the country.

🔹 Femmegineering – A global movement to inspire women to pursue careers in tech and improve gender balance in IT. Initially launched by Sigma Group in Sweden, the Femmegineering initiative gained new momentum in 2022 when Sigma Software Group scaled it to emerging tech markets across Europe, including Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, and Portugal.

Career Guidance

Sigma Software offers internships on real projects, dual education programs, and career guidance programs. Our specialists take part in projects with schools and speak at student events.

As part of a national project by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Sigma Software experts helped revise school computer science curricula. Our professionals also participated in the production of a series of educational videos that explain IT career paths based on real industry experience.

Education for Defenders and Veterans

Adapting to today’s reality, Sigma Software, together with Sigma Software University, provides pro bono tech education for Ukrainian defenders, who develop high-tech solutions for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. More than 450 students have already completed 20+ courses, gaining vital digital and technical skills that support both reintegration and innovation.

Sigma Software University also provides free access to all our self-paced learning materials, teacher-led IT courses, and English classes for military personnel with prior IT experience—further supporting Ukraine’s technological resilience.
