Sigma Software Hungary Joins EMPOWER HER Initiative
Sigma Software Hungary announced its support of the international EMPOWER HER initiative aimed to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. This is a continuation of our company’s course on fostering gender equality.
EMPOWER HER is an initiative by the U.S. Department of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU), and AmChams in Europe (ACE), brought to Hungary by AmCham Hungary and the U.S. Embassy in Budapest. Launched to foster direct business engagement, the initiative aims to define and promote actionable steps for advancing women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship.
Sigma Software is committed to breaking down barriers rooted in prejudice. Diversity of our workforce has been steadily increasing over the years, as we take systematic actions to create beneficial conditions for specialists of any age, gender, and beliefs. We are especially attentive to the gender balance, since historically women are less prone to choose a career in IT. Therefore, we welcome and support initiatives intended to celebrate women’s leadership and expertise, such as EMPOWER HER.
Dora Cseresnyes, CEO at Sigma Software Hungary and one of the gender balance ambassadors in our company, has signed the Declaration of Support for Women’s Economic Empowerment on behalf of Sigma Software Hungary.
By signing the declaration, we support the first steps for a better future, including:
- Committing to increase female representation in leadership positions;
- Investing to increase and deepen programs that develop skills and opportunities among women;
- Promoting leadership development opportunities for women and other under-represented groups through targeted initiatives such as sponsorship and mentor programs;
- Identifying opportunities to reduce gender pay gaps and implementing gender-diverse requirements for all open roles;
- Advocating for enhanced cooperation with relevant stakeholders on the topic of gender equality and diversity, and in particular with government agencies and other private sector stakeholders (including associations representing women traders), to foster a harmonized and coordinated approach in implementing a gender-equal and inclusive business environment throughout the whole trade process;
- Sharing experience and best practices regarding the implementation of gender equality and diversity;
- Supporting work-life balance for all employees, offering flexible work arrangements whenever possible, to promote a healthy work environment for staff.
Dora Cseresnyes, CEO at Sigma Software Hungary, says:
“By joining EMPOWER HER initiative, we emphasize our commitment to gender equality and strive to facilitate the spread of these ideas and best practices. With 35% of women in the company compared to the industry average of 25% and 50% of women in our top management, we’ve already made significant efforts to build equality and gender balance and continue. In 2023, we won the Partnership for Sustainability Award 2023 by UN Global Compact Ukraine and the title of the Best Workplace for Women in Tech. With EMPOWER HER initiative, we will continue building a community of female tech professionals and invite other businesses in Hungary to join us.”
