On March 25, Alexey Trush, Senior Software Developer at Sigma Ukraine, conducted a workshop on teamwork techniques and knowledge transfer for students from Germany, Sweden, Norway, Russia and Switzerland in Calpe, Spain.

Sigma Group has a sustainable cooperation with Linnaeus University (Sweden) for many years. Within the framework of the Linnaeus international course dedicated to knowledge management our expert Alexey Trush spoke for a group of students from partnering EU universities. Alexey described cornerstones of effective knowledge transferring in the team and peculiarities of teamwork from Sigma’s experience, told about key features of agile development process, trainings and seminars we conduct in the company and why they are important.

During the workshop session students had to present their suggestions and ideas about different challenges a team may face on a software development project. They discussed how to deal with the lack of interest in the team, one member’s domination, over-dependency on a team leader, etc.

“We have delivered hundreds of projects and have a profound understanding in building development processes and team management. It’s great to become a part of such program where you can share hands-on experience with the students, who are just starting their careers,” says Alexey Trush. “The workshop resulted in engaging and productive dialog: students actively presented their ideas and asked a lot of questions. It proved to be beneficial for both sides: students learned principles of work and knowledge transfer in the team, while for me it was the first workshop in English for a group of 30+ participants.”

“Sigma Ukraine is an active player in Ukrainian education sector. We participate in international students programs, TEMPUS project, support government programs aimed at improving the quality of IT graduates, cooperate with universities to create effective training courses and projects,” comments Valery Krasovsky, COO at Sigma Ukraine. “We are happy to extend our education development activities to the students all over the world, helping the future specialists get their first professional experience.”
