Minnits

Minnits ® is a 3D Unity game for teaching English. It is used in Swedish schools for children with disabilities. To play the game, children listen to English sentences and pick the images or symbols that match the content of the sentence they just heard.

The English Minnits is owned by Universal Learning Games AB and supported by National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools.

THE PLOT

Wheeze is a Minnit. His parents are scientists and have developed his powerful suit. When children practice new words and phrases during the game, they use a Minnit slot machine. Players listen to sentences and pick the symbols that match the content of the sentence. If players do well, Wheeze gets stronger and this helps him fight dragons.

CHARACTERS

Wheeze must build up his strength by talking to almost everyone he meets. He talks to Garris, Tresta, Mr. Mags, Doctor Saffina and many other Minnits on his way to find dragons.

MINNIT SLOT MACHINE

When user practices new words and phrases while playing the game, he will have to use a Minnit Slot Machine. Player’s job will be to listen to a sentence and pick symbols, which match content of the sentence he’s just listened to. If a player does a good job, Wheeze gets stronger and this helps him fight dragons.

3D CHARACTER MODELING

Part of the graphical character designs are done in Unity 3D.

The Minnits Game web site www.theminnits.com was developed on WordPress content management platform and is multilingual, available in English and Swedish. This and other site features allow players to switch languages and deepen their knowledge, as well as support community for administrators, post news, and distribute the game via social networks.
